SCMI Regional Fellowship Training Program at North East Region April 22, 2013

SCMI- North east India Region conducted Regional Fellowship Training Program from 15th to 17th of April 2013 at Pine Brook Centre, Umbang Barapani Meghalaya on the theme “Youth for Justice” as a part of regional fellowship programme.

     The welcome function was led by Mr. Hamlet Lyngdoh (president SCMI Shillong City Unit). The participants were divided into 6 groups for arious assignments. One of the assignments from Roman 12:20 ’if your enemy is hungry feed him, if he is thirsty; give him something to drink…’ The responsibility as a youth toward justice what shall we do based on the phrases was the first Task. It opened the floor for discussions.  The next the participants conducted a cleaning drive in the centre as a sign of their presence in the centre thereafter Bible study was led by Pastor Greson Baba where he shares the word of God from Ecclesiastic 11:9-10. He also stretches the important of sanctity of youth and our responsibility toward our friends, family, society and the surrounding. Everyone have to live life according to the will of God.

     The morning paper presentation on the topic ‘Principle, Quality and Role of Leader’ was given by Mr. Shalom L Ralsun (Programme Secretary SCMI NEI) and Moderated by Mr. Chobin Pegu (Secretary Dhemaji Unit) after reading the Bible verse from Psalm 23:1-6 he stretched upon the three principles of Leaderships (Natural, Management and Spiritual Leadership), the quality, qualification and duties of a leader. A leader is the person who plays the role and guides his people toward perfection. This was followed by group discussions.  After the discussion the Second task for the day was from Galatians 6:2 ‘Carry each other’s burdens and in the way you will fulfill the law of Christ’ where he explains that as a youth for justice we need to carry each other burden.

     The afternoon paper presentation was moderated by Mr. Wilson (Jowai town Unit) after a word of prayer Prof. Airpeace Rani (Synod College) gave a paper presentation on the topic” Role of youth in the society towards Justice” after reading the words of God from Matthew 2:2: Mika 6:8 he share about what is justice the meaning and basic requirement of Justice. He also stress upon the important of positive attitude, Biblical Justice and differentiated the personal and social justice. During this hour a group discuss on the issue of Social Issue related to discrimination, exploitation, domestic violence etc. and personal issue.

Later the groups were led into discussion led by Mr. Banteilang (Shillong City Unit) where a groups were given a topic to discuss and gave a presentation on their opinion toward the given topics.


    Some of the topic discusses and share was:

1. Domestic Violence against women;

2. Science and Technology;

3. Globalization;

4. Gender Issue;

5. Leadership;

6. Influence of Social Networking.

      From the presentation and discussion we learn the topic was reflected toward theme ‘Youth for Justice’. As a youth we have to be alert and well verse with our surrounding as we can destroy or create our society, nation or the world. As men are the root cause of every destruction it is the responsibility of you and I to make a better future. Let us not do away from justice, but be an example for all toward justice for the welfare of all.

      Mr. Inbaraj Jayakumar (Study Secretary Fellowship Desk SCMI) who graced the program from National Office shared the important of fellowship programme. National, Regional Level, also explain the purpose of the programme and expressed his gratitude toward the region and invite the fellowship holder to be a part of the national programme at Bangalore as well. He later shared from Acts.9:1-8 on the life of Saul to Paul after that a special item was presented by Shillong city unit.

On the last day of the program the morning Bible study and prayer was led by Evan. Aano Doley (President Dhemaji Unit) where we heard the word of God from. 3 John 3; Daniel 9; Matt.17:20; Mark 11; Luke 11:10 and 13; John 15:5 and Ephesians 6:10. He shares us the important of faithfulness and the joy of living together as a brother. And also share about the prayer of Daniel, as a youth we are to be faithful to one another and to God and love one another. After that, someof the fellowship students shared their experiences of being a fellowship student.

The afternoon paper presentation was moderated by Ms. Safina S Allya (Vice President Shillong City Unit) and the presentation was given by Ms. Dr. Fenila Lyngdoh Nonglait (Chairman Meghalaya Legal Service Commission, Chief Legal Advisor of All Private university in Meghalaya and a former SCMI UCC Unit General secretary) on the topic:’ Issue of human right based on right to life and dignity’  after the words of prayer we learn how the human right come into exist , the importance and the necessity of every individual to know about his own basic human right, the effect cause by not knowing our right and violation of such right. She also stress upon that every person if he or she is a human must know that the right given to us, which is inborn, inalienable, undivided, universal and inter-dependent.

   Before the Program concluded Mr. Shalom announce the result of the group divisions, and encouraged all from Psalm 23:3 and Ephesians 6:10-18 asking all to be a ‘youth for Justice’ we as a youth we need to love, share, comfort and always put the armor of God but never boss of the achievement because it is God who lead us to righteousness. The program closed with a word of prayer and benediction by Mr. Inbaraj Jeyakumar.
