The SCMI North East India Region

During the workshop Ms. Angela Ingty (Associate Prof. NEHU Tura) shared with us on the topic Migration: Justice Perspectives. She reflected on the cause and effect of Migration in the past , present context and concluded with Biblical perspectives as to examine ourselves and try to do what God wants us to do ie., To act Justly, to Love Mercy and to work Humbly before God.(Micah 6:6-8) followed by Question and interaction where most of the participant were able to share their view, doubt regarding migration and the topic was also discuss in the content of the state of Meghalaya where ILP has been an issue at present. Pastor V. L. Malsawmdawngkima (UCC Chaplain) also shared with us on the topic: Migration: Christian Response with selected Text- Duet 18:9-13 where he stressed upon two important points:
- As a Christian the first step that we needs to do to response migration problems is “To mend our ways first”- in order to initiate any steps Or to deal any problems we the Christians needs to first examine ourselves whether we are free from any other form of sinfulness like corruption, selfishness, greed, etc. so, in order to prevent our land and to deal migration problems we first needs to mend our way.
- The second response of Christian would be “Love your God more than anything else”- we sometimes used to distribute our “LOVE” to many places and areas on the other hand, we did not spare our love to God. Love God simply means obey Gods commandment. John says Gods commandment is not burdensome. If we love God everything which are necessary for our life would be done and be given.
The camp at the end encouraged
everyone to be committed to SCM as a faith based movement, to love God and respond
to migration in our contemporary society.
