“Witnessing Christ in a Pluralistic World” – SCM North East India Celebrates Platinum Jubilee October 20, 2012

SCM has been an inspiration to many young people in North East India and has produced many leaders, politician, beaucrates, lawyers, doctors, professors, etc. SCMNEI play an important role in strengthening and expanding the kingdom of God in witnessing Christ in this pluralistic world. It has always been a source of learning, spiritually and physically for most of the college’s students and youth of North East India.

October 17th, 2012 mark a Historic Date for SCM North East India and credit goes to our Almighty God for enabling SCMNEI to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee. On this Historic occasion SCMNEI remembers its former leader, who has given their precious time and effort for SCM without which SCMNEI will not be able to be at this stage of celebration. The occasion was celebrated with a theme “Witnessing Christ in a Pluralistic World” where Mr. Malakia Lalnunfela chaired the program. Dr. A J Anandan, honorary Treasurer of SCMI gave greetings followed by male voice from ATC friends. Ms. Vashti  Poah, Secretary, SCM NEI  gave a brief sletch of the history of SCM NEI and took the opportunity to thank all the former SCMers for their effort for which SCM NSI is able to celebrate its 75th year of existence. Rev. Raj Bharath Patta, General Secretary of SCM India gave the keynote address and congratulated SCM NEI at this historic juncture. Soon after SCMI Chairperson Bishop Geevarghese Coorilos dedicated the Platinum Jubilee Souvenir and gave a powerful speech on the platinum theme. Delegates from NEICC, NEICCYA, YWCA, MTC and many other well wishers attended the program. The program closed with a word of thanks by Mr. Shalom Lalditsak Ralsun, program secretary, SCM NEI and a preayer and benediction by Rev. Thongsei Hoakip, senior advisor AICS Unit.   has been a challenge to the youth  and future leaders of SCM , it’s  responsibility in imparting faith into action and in extending  the kingdom of God

SCMNEI is indeed grateful to the National Staff, Bishop Dr. Geevarghese Coorilos (chairperson SCMI), Rev.Raj Bharath Patta (General Secretary SCMI), Dr.A.J.Anandan (Honourary Treasurer SCMI) for their support and presence during the celebration. SCM NEI thank God for all its guidance and support toward SCMNEI, all the well wishers and its leaders.

Today, SCM NEI is bless with 13 Active units from various part of North East with about 1300 and more members strength during this year of Platinum Jubilee celebration which has been a great achievement for the region and is still looking forward for its extension in various part of North east.

The Student Christian Movement North East India witnessed its historical Platinum Jubilee celebration at Aizawl Theological College, Aizawl, Mizoram on 17th October 2012. SCM NEI is one of the oldest ecumenical movements in North east India as in other parts of India.
